Sadly, this race ended in great disappointment for La Grace. During the general overhaul "somebody" stole the paint that was meant to guarantee a clean hull, and the Tunisian workers painted the ship with ordinary paint, which fouled up and slowed us down. Not even the crew's determination to climb into the icy water of the northern Baltic Sea and scrub the weed off by hand was any help. Even so, I look back on that race very fondly and I will never forget the bunch of people who proudly bore the weight of that failure with me...
