Towns and Alleyways

The historic narrow, winding lanes are a wonderful feature of the island. You will find them in the small towns of Poglio, Marciana or Capoliveri further from the coast, out of range of the pirates' guns, where invaders could not easily reach on foot. The fortified towns on the coast, such as Porto Azzurro, have a beauty of their own too.
