From La Grace's log book:

We are a school ship, so it is great that a school came aboard on Saturday. This time it is the primary school in Semily. The children cannot treat themselves to two years of holidays, but this week of school in the open air will be a great experience and an adventure. They spent Saturday by the water, and I have a feeling that even that was not enough for any of them. You can never have too much swimming.

Sunday morning on La Grace is given over to shopping and taking on water. We spared the children the work, though, and they set off on a history trip in Napoleon's footsteps. The whole of Elba is woven through with this commander, and Portoferraio especially. We are not overdoing the learning, though. The children are now standing outside the best ice cream shop on Elba, and guess what their faces will be sticky with.

In the afternoon a bit of yachting awaits us, but above all swimming and jumping into the water from the swing. The children have been reminding us of this pastime ever since they arrived. They saw it in the film that was shown at school as a record of last year's voyage by last year's seventh-graders. And now we are setting sail.
